Adult A Complete Reality

To see a complete reality, the negative, as well as the positive, need to be of equal value.

Unfortunately, for humanity's continuance, too many people believe the negative is a true reality while the positive is some hippie new age idea without substance.  In my opinion, if we continue in this fearful negativity, humanity will transform into something that does not fulfill of what we all dream.

It is a sad misperception, an incomplete view, this negative focus - acutely difficult to penetrate.

Offer a positive slant on anything and invariably, two out of three defend the negative as an absolute truth that cannot be changed.  When this happens to me, I feel more comfortable responding in silence.  However, here, as well as anywhere, silence is uncomfortable and considered impolite.

Currently, our world is ruled by a societal indoctrination that is based on fear (negative), competition (more fear) and punishment (the inability to invent another way in dealing with failed co-operation).  Happily, I see many signs the positive dimension is expanding.

When my ideas clash with another's negativity, explaining, stressing my positive view is futile.  It causes the other to deepen their resolve grasping evidence to prove the negative view.  When I push and stress that there is another aspect to this reality, they dismiss it as unimportant and warn of its dangers. Unaware, they are acquiring information from one side only,  they dig themselves into a mire of negativity.  In a negative dimension, convinced their view is exclusive and correct, they become more certain the more I counter.

By saying this, if you are one of these people, this blog may insult you.  But by personal results of my choice, practicing positivity, gifted me with an unparalleled well-being.  In this space, writing, without human presence to defile my words, I profess that a negative focus is alike to cancer, it eventually devours its host.

I practice positivity.  It is not easy.  Obvious to mention and not a surprise, in this violent uncertain world, the negative has a strong hold.  Practicing positivity is not ignoring the negative but rather practicing patience until the positive reveals itself.  I practice a dedication to waiting, silent until the positive appears and changes the face of the negative, offering me a two-sided portrait.

I have been doing this practice since my early thirties, I am seventy now.  The practice continuously surprises me with new information and helps enliven living.  In the face of many challenges, with which I will not bore you, life continues interesting.

For all who read this, shake their head and think of arguing my theme, my sympathies,  a negative focus is hell on earth.  If you do not wish to consider positivity, so be it.

It is a choice.

Me personally, I usually steer away from both negative and positive people and their conversations. I mean that, to me, reality is pretty self evident because truths or lack of is as unique to each person as a fingerprint.

I don’t how to respond since by the nature of this blog wouldn’t I be one of those positive people from whom you steer away? I can’t agree that reality is pretty self-evident. But even though you may avoid me and I disagree with your sentiment, I send hugs!

The people with a glass half empty perspective are akin to the plague to people like the optimist.70 is definitely a wise n grand ole age!!

I don’t see myself as an optimist. I think that would another blog. But when I think about the glass half empty people, I feel only sadness for them. They exist in a kind of hell for they only see the negative and are always on the lookout for what’s wrong. Thank you for visiting me and leaving me your thoughts.

I believe i practice positivity. I also rant on occasion in a way so i can approach a problem i am having with a sounder, quieter and kinder mind. Because i am not devoid of anger, angst, and frustration as my reaction to things, theories and closed-minded people. i believe, also that negative speak of others is cancerous. that closed-minded words and verbs are cancer in action. i vent to those closest to me so i can reframe. i recently referred to myself as a rant-osopher, so i could come to grips with many of the things i had posted here on thoughts. i am a passionate and sometimes angry person but at 54 i have learned (VERY SLOWLY) how to bite my tongue. i said i learned, i didn’t say i practice yet very well. why i feel this is a confession of sorts, it reminds me i miss you

When one is passionate, keeping outbursts in check will always be difficult. How could it not be so? The nature of passion is to be spontaneously exuberant! I am so glad to see you here!

I don’t think equal value is quite right, more to the point of equal attention.

If one does not value something, one won’t give it attention.

Oh? value only in what detriment it might cause as opposed to benefit. I tend to value according to a scale of benefit. giving negative value as to the amount of harm

I continue confused as to why you comment that equal value is not quite right and equal attention is more correct. I can only see that if one values something, one will place attention and therefore to restate my opening sentence – To see complete reality, the positive, as well as the negative, need to be equally respected as to their worth. A being who values both the negative and the positive gives both – equal attention and then gleans from each – information. Most people dismiss the positive as not real and therefore not valuable and lose out on beneficial information.

I guess my working definition of value has more to do with expected benefit rather than studied awareness of potential danger

Here we agree. How your perceive my use of value as awareness of potential danger rather than expected benefit, continues to escape me. I shall remain perplexed with your comment but will leave it as a sign of my obtuseness.

Here are my definitions a little more formally of value and awareness value – deserving; the importance, worth, or usefulness and awareness – knowledge or perception of something, so perhaps there is value in having an awareness of dangers

Whatever comes out of my mouth I realize it is just my story that is made up of selected facts that only poorly represent the physical reality. I try to state the obvious and the important without too much thought as to whether it is positive or negative, but on the whole I tend to be hopeful. (The story concept is only a few years old for me … my old blogs on here mostly precede this new awareness.)

You are an example of a learning being doing his best at learning. There is nothing better than this. Your older blogs are evidence of how you have surpassed yourself – to yourself?

This post makes me really happy. I feel that in old age feeling positive is very rare. It is good to meet someone who practices positivity in old age. I think it is almost as if a flower grew in a volcano. Everything you say makes a lot of sense. I have realized I have been living in fear. This is also focusing on the negative. I feel like I have been focusing too much in trying to avoid pain. But I am now realizing that perhaps it is better to live in love. And rather than live by avoiding pain to live by pursuing the things I love. And that prospect makes me really happy as well and I think we both have this in common

How wonderful to be understood! I appreciate you taking the time and leaving me these words of understanding. I can only say, exactly! It doesn’t matter when we learn this, it is a practice. The mind’s default is fear and will always be in protective mode or fear.

It is entirely true one finds what one seeks.
I’m often accused of being negative. This nearly always arises when I display skepticism in the face of those who absolutely refuse to accept BOTH possible outcomes of all things. I find these to be in some sort of denial and too often, it leads them to very bad falls when the reality of two sided existence smacks them hard.
I’m a realist. I prepare for the worst, strive for the best and expect nothing. If things go badly, I shrug, deploy contingencies, do the best may done under circumstances, get a bit disappointed but not direly so. If things go well, hurrah, super happy it turned out well. if mezzo mezzo, content, could have better true, but also could have been far worse. in all cases, I do my best to learn form outcomes, good, bad or middling. I know that in spite of all good thought, intention and action, bad things are an equally likely outcome as we have no control of anything at all, not even ourselves, really… In the end, the Nature of the Universe seems to be to find balance. that means there will be as much god/happy/ positive as there will be bad/sad/negative. i dont’ look for either good or bad, there are plenty of both. Im happy if I dont’ get a lot of bad, thrilled when I get good. Most things/people/events fall in the middle and so no complaints.
On those who seem negative and become more so the more positive is put to them, I suggest this to be an actual demonstration of the Universe’s balancing act at work. Put another way, light is only revealed in darkness. As true in people as in painting.

I am curious about one of your last sentences – about the Universe’s balancing act at work. I do wonder why some people are hesitant to temper the unknown with just as possible positive outcomes. It seems so self-defeating.

Why? Some actually think by by looking for brighter side hey somehow are tempting fate, if they expect nothing and focus on all the ills, they will be rewarded or, at the least, not punished for Avarice. Not just the catholics, other faiths and philosophies advocate seriousness and scowling, that being happy and content is somehow sinful, evil, taking that which is Divine prerogative into mere mortal hands.
Some learnt the view ( or to express themselves thus ) from those before them, some from personal experience.
These are the ones who actually do tend to be self defeating, the ones who find for what they look or only will see.
Then there are those who aren’t actually like that but who do enjoy playing Devil’s Advocate, who WILL take the negative just because you’d expressed positive. Variants of these can also be the sorts who firmly believe your action must be balanced with an opposite and equal one and those who are actually t4sting you to see if you’re just spouting the stuff from ignorance, new fad/phase in your life, ( il)legal high or merely they wish to be annoyingly bright to see if you handle it without slipping. Some are also testing because they are also positive and wish to ascertain you really are that way before revealing themselves. Positive people, the real sort, do not surround themselves with negative ones and some are quite proactive about that. testing and observation are the only way to learn if if you are genuine or no. some are testing you because they are wishing to learn, to see if it really does work and want to find one who shows , in trial by fire, that it really can and does work.
And some are plain bullies , the puerile sot who will take it out of anyone different for their own amusement or simply to disconcert you or because they view you as weak and wish to put you in your place, as it were. But then, the state of adulthood is never any guarantee of maturity and I know far more adults who children than actual children.
as for fear of the unknown, it is the survival mechanism of the mammalian species we are from whence that often comes. What we do not understand may well hurt or kill us. The bad stuff stays clear and bright long after so we don’t make the same mistakes again, dont’ go back to fire and try to touch it again and get burnt again until death ensues. Unfortunately for the soul inhabits our species of mammalian, this can lead to what is deemed negative behaviour and can the mechanism is fouled by the analytical developments in the mind as opposed to the base function and program of the brain It is very difficult to rise above the base programming of the species in order to grow as souls, as both we know. With this, it is generally a matter of A: reminding those in the grip of mammalian base programming of the good stuff, getting them to recall it themselves and B: to help them gain a body of evidence equal to or greater than the negative and C to sort that many so called bad experiences were not because the person was bad or did anything wrong but because some factor present in the experience skewed the outcome. To wit, If the boss says get this done by X time or your fired, the person is fearful, on some level , for his job, living situation, family due to potential deprivation. this puts his otherwise good performance off. all the worse if the boss is summary and literal type, worse still if his family are struggling as it is or the economy is rough and the prospect of another job if failing is slim. all of these things trigger the survival programme on oo many levels at once. he is distracted and nervous and his performance is skewed due to his energies and thoughts being sapped by the base survival programme. nevermind he actually can do what the boss wants and would be just fine if it were the shift lead or the even the company owner, the difficult boss who can determine his survival or make it very hard is the one he’s dealing with.
And it is so very hard to tell th programme shut off, I’m busy here, need all available resource, especially since so few are actually aware it can be done or that we are even made that way. Most difficult of all is base programme overrides the analytical when that happens making it even harder to think logically.
On the Universe balancing itself, I was observing te Universe will do that and sometimes quite immediately, for all to see if they will. it take that as clear indication of two possible paths and that one may wish to cionsdier well the demonstration to hand and choose wisely if and whn it comes to it. The Universe can well demonstrate what can be expressed in converstion as Pay attention, sharpen up! or Observe and learn! great teacher, the Universe. Im still working hard on being a good student.
