To see a complete reality, the negative, as well as the positive, need to be of equal value.
Unfortunately, for humanity's continuance, too many people believe the negative is a true reality while the positive is some hippie new age idea without substance. In my opinion, if we continue in this fearful negativity, humanity will transform into something that does not fulfill of what we all dream.
It is a sad misperception, an incomplete view, this negative focus - acutely difficult to penetrate.
Offer a positive slant on anything and invariably, two out of three defend the negative as an absolute truth that cannot be changed. When this happens to me, I feel more comfortable responding in silence. However, here, as well as anywhere, silence is uncomfortable and considered impolite.
Currently, our world is ruled by a societal indoctrination that is based on fear (negative), competition (more fear) and punishment (the inability to invent another way in dealing with failed co-operation). Happily, I see many signs the positive dimension is expanding.
When my ideas clash with another's negativity, explaining, stressing my positive view is futile. It causes the other to deepen their resolve grasping evidence to prove the negative view. When I push and stress that there is another aspect to this reality, they dismiss it as unimportant and warn of its dangers. Unaware, they are acquiring information from one side only, they dig themselves into a mire of negativity. In a negative dimension, convinced their view is exclusive and correct, they become more certain the more I counter.
By saying this, if you are one of these people, this blog may insult you. But by personal results of my choice, practicing positivity, gifted me with an unparalleled well-being. In this space, writing, without human presence to defile my words, I profess that a negative focus is alike to cancer, it eventually devours its host.
I practice positivity. It is not easy. Obvious to mention and not a surprise, in this violent uncertain world, the negative has a strong hold. Practicing positivity is not ignoring the negative but rather practicing patience until the positive reveals itself. I practice a dedication to waiting, silent until the positive appears and changes the face of the negative, offering me a two-sided portrait.
I have been doing this practice since my early thirties, I am seventy now. The practice continuously surprises me with new information and helps enliven living. In the face of many challenges, with which I will not bore you, life continues interesting.
For all who read this, shake their head and think of arguing my theme, my sympathies, a negative focus is hell on earth. If you do not wish to consider positivity, so be it.
It is a choice.
